"This Must Be LAAAAB!"

Last night, March 26, 2006, was the night for Artistang Artlet's 25th Anniversary Production.. It was held for the first time outside of UST (where our plays were not allowed to be shown).. PETA Theater Center was the chosen venue for this production.. Though the audience we expected were more than who came, still it was a success.. The almost 2 month preparation of each individual both members and alumi paid off.. I'm proud to be part of Artistang Artlets, I'm proud to have been part of this Anniversary Production.. Though I have experienced a lot of problem regarding this production, I still am proud to say, "I did it!"..

The following are the synopsis of the ORIGINAL PLAYS done by AA:

"JEWEL at ANG KANYANG DALAWANG.."

Jewel is average gay guy who fell in love for the first time with his classmate Edward. Although they are good friends, Jewel is yet to tell his heartthrob friend about his inner feeling for his classmate. But his decision is weighed by two of his conscience: one prodding Jewel into the relationship while the other implicating Edward as a user who would take advantage of Jewel’s niceties. Jewel decided to follow his feeling and tell Edward, but ends up embarrassed and ashamed. And as he tries to kill himself, he was saved by a mysterious phone call. Years passed, Jewel and Edward had gone their separate ways. But Jewel has been hounded by Edward to which the gay guy doesn’t entertain. However, a sudden realization wakes Jewel and was able to look into Edward’s feelings. Now, Jewel has to make up for lost time, to tell Edward about how he feels for his friend. But at what cost?

Brokeback Fever

My girlfriends and I watched Brokeback Mountain last Thursday at Gateway Mall in Cubao..
We were like 2 mins late..
I dunno if the scene I saw was the start of the movie..
Still, I didn't mind it..

Why did I watch Brokeback?
1st because of the publicity of the movie..
2nd because I'm gay..
3rd because I have a crush on Jake..

I was really touched by the movie..
Some scenes really somehow happened to me..
It also made me realize about what has been happening in my life..
But I didn't cry while watching it..

One thing not evident in the movie though is their love for each other..
I don't know if it is implied that they were in love..
All I know is they like to spend time together in the mountains to fuck..
Maybe I'm wrong..

Daisaku Ikeda - Soka Gakkai International (my buddhist organization) President.. Sa 2006 niya na-receive ang kanyang 200th Honorary Doctorate from all over the world.. Siya ang may pinakamadaming Honorary Doctorate ever.. We're proud of him..

Encardre - my last play with Artistang Artlets.. one of the best production I have starred in.. sosyal.. "starred" talaga.. congratulations to Ryan Chua..!! Shell ang name ng character ko.. Bomb Shell..!!

Father - this year din, namatay ang pudang ni Julz.. Napag-usapan din naman sa wake na sa aming magkakaibigan, ako na lang ang may pudang.. Si Mai, dedz na din.. Si Jey naman nowhere to be found ang drama.. Maswerte me nandyan pa si Father..

Gaano Mo Ako Kamahal? - that was this year's most shocking text message/question I've received from a least likely person na magtetext nun.. sabi lang nya when I asked why, "Nagulat ka noh?!" Such a teaser..!!!

Having Powers - This was the title of my most controversial and intriguing blog entry dito sa blogspot.. Hay.. Ang aking blog, BOW..!

Project Runway - for me has been the best reality based tv show shown n television.. hosted by Heidi Klum.. super exciting and interesting ang bawat episode.. up to season 3 pa lang napapanood ko.. sana mapalabas na agad sa Travel and Living.. Who will ever forget Tenacious Wendy?

Twenty - Regine Velasquez celebrated her 20 years in the business with a concert.. Twenty and title.. it was my very first time to ever watch her concert.. hay.. I really love her!! ".. and maybe then I'll know, what kind of fool i ammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" (standing ovation)..

UST Social Research Center - I had my part time job here for an International project. o, diba sosyal? at in dollars ang aking renumeration.. I'm still working here as a Research Assistant sa isang full-time researcher dun..

my family and I went to 168 mall..!! hay.. suking-suki na ako ng 168.. reyna ata ako nun?! dyan ko lagi buy mga bags ko.. yup, MGA bags.. meaning madami na.. madami me bags from 168 kasi, ilang gamitan lang, sira na agad..!! sino ba naman ang hindi mapapabili ulit.. pero at least, iba-iba ang bag ko..!! hehehe.. pero kahit ganun, I keep coming back to 168.. ang saya lang mamili-mili dun.. for xmas, I bought shirts, wallet and you guessed it right, bag..!! yun lang naman mabibili mo for "guys" eh.. ayoko pa naman bumuy ng pants dun.. wit ko feel.. pag babae ka, maloka ka sa dami mong mabibili.. buti di masyadong siksikan sa mall.. kumonti na ang mga taong namimili.. at may nabalitaan akong gustong umeksena ah.. gustong agawin ang korona ko.. ayan siya sa picture.. gaga!! hindi yang mga chinese na yan.. yun yung naka-ternong green.. kalowka.. pupunta ng 168 ng nakaterno.. very Filipino.. and nag-iisang fashion icon - IMELDA!!! (pictures were not taken during the same day.. nakuha ko lang siya sa net.. tsaka ayoko siyang makasabay..!!) pansinin nyo ang mga katabi ng lola mo, sa bang direksyon nakatingin at hindi kay Imelda.. sino kaya ang isa pang dumating? balita ko madami daw bags.. hahaha..!!

then, we're off to Ongpin para maglunch/merienda.. 4pm kasi kami natapos sa 168 eh.. we ate peking duck, siomai, and tofu.. yumyum..!! tapos like what most people do in Ongpin, maglakad-lakad.. hindi bagay dun ang magcar kasi siksikan.. lalo na pag-Chinese New Year.. good luck sa sikip.. we bought some fudang na ihahanda sa noche buena.. then uwi na kami.. dumaan kami sa may Luneta.. at napansin namin na super dami ng tao.. " May rally ba," I asked myself.. Hindi pala.. Kaya pala madaming tao dahil today ang Parade of Stars.. sabi nila mudang park daw kami muna sa may kalye and wait for the floats.. 1st float, "Tatlong Baraha." Compared to lugaw, may itsura pala si Mark Lapid ah.. Yep, Mark Lapid our famous "SAGIIINNNGGG!!" guy.. Kumpleto talaga ang Lapid clan.. Ultimo si Jess Lapid nandun.. Sayang kompleto na sana sila kung nandun si R.Lapids! Chos!!

eto talaga ang highlight ng aking blog.. ang susunod na float.. "Super Noypi".. I saw Katrina Halili (maganda siya ah.. maliit lang fez nya!), Sandara Park din ang ganda.. John Prats panalo (crush ng kapatid ko)... si Polo naman hottie (crush ni mudang).. at xempre dahil nandun si Mark Herras..!! naka white t-shirt siya.. tapos nakasuot siya ng glowing devil headband.. at red ang ibang parts ng hairlalou niya.. water na water na me when I saw him.. he's hot.. hotter than hell..!! kapatid ko and mudang ko eh todo sigaw.. eh ikaw, walang magawa.. ang drama ko sa mga moment na yun ay dead ma.. KJ ang image ko.. kunyari I'm not enjoying the parade.. bakit naman kamo? katabi ko si pudang..!! aber sige nga, anong gagawin ko? binubuhos ko na lang ang pagnanasa ko kay Mark sa aking mga isip.. sa isip na lang me magwawater.. sa isip nalang me magfifinger (ay ang bastos!!).. che..!!

nasan kamo ang ibang float? WALA ng sumunod..!! balita ko na lang sa radio, wit na sila.. nasiraan..!! nakakaloka..!! kawawa yung mga libo-libong tawowo sa kahabaan ng Roxas Blvd.. so, sa January na lang sila ulit bumalik.. wawa talaga..

got home.. nagbalot ng ibang gifts.. pinamigay sa tito, tita, pinsan.. binigyan din nila me.. nag-games ang mga bata.. P20.00 ang prize.. umuwi ulit ng bahay.. kumain ng steak, liempo, lasagna, and my favorite -- 3 layers of HAM and MAYONNAISE..!!

ANIMAL KA!!

wala siguro akong maisip na ibang topic kaya I wanna talk about animals I adore.. 3 animals lang naman talaga ang gusto ko.. sayang lang that you can not keep them as pets.. except for the dog.. pero I can not afford it pa ngayon.. xempre, wala pang work..

pero hindi naman talaga ako animal lover.. pero hindi yung tipong "I wanna go the zoo everyday" ang drama ko.. i just find them cute.. and cuddly..

The panda bear. Ang cute.. Eto yung mga tipong stuffed toy na actual.. Sarap yakap-yakapin.. Hay panda.. Hello Panda (sarap yun!).. Hehehe.. Chow Chow. Double cute!! Kain na tayo.. Hehehe.. Unang kita ko pa lang dito sa pet shop, gusto ko na siya..!! Someday, bibili me ng isa.. Dolphin. The closest I could get to a sea animal is siguro with a dolphin.. We are not talking about gold fishes here ah, or yung mga nalalafang na isda, crustaceans etc.. My Latest Craving

Shux.. Almost everyday akong bumibili nito.. Kaya yun, nauubos baon ko..!! Grr... As if naglilihi ako.. (Ambisyosa!!) When I went to Subic, super mura nun doon.. Mga P70.00 lang.. eh dito sa Manila, goodluck naman.. P118.00..!! pero worth it naman..!! But wait, pero hindi ko naman kayang lafangin ito ng1 day lang noh?! Mga 2 days naman.. Sa gabi ko siya laging kinakain while nakahilata sa couch watching TV.. o diba? very couch potato.. kaya ako tumataba eh.. at least 0% cholesterol..!! healthy pa rin.. hahaha..!! buy na kayo..!!! ang sarap..!!!! By the way, hindi pa ito maituturing na junk food.. Dahil according sa BFAD, there's no such thing as junk food.. Dahil hindi naman daw nila iaapprove ang isang fudang na ibenta sa market kung JUNK ito.. Tama naman sila diba? Eh fine, kung healthy junkie kayo, wag kayong lumafang nito.. KARMA

it's not as simple as "kung anong ginawa mo, yun din ang babalik sayo!"

Even within Asia, where the concept of karma has a long history and has been incorporated in a wide range of cultures, it is often misunderstood. Viewed from a negative, backward-looking perspective, karma has been used to encourage the disadvantaged members of society to accept their situation in life as being of their own making. Present suffering is attributed to negative causes made in the past.

Considering themselves to blame for their situation, some people have fallen prey to a sense of powerlessness. This is, however, a distortion of the original meaning of karma as it is used in the Buddhist tradition. To accept the idea of karma does not mean to live under a cloud of guilt and vague anxiety, not knowing what bad causes we may have made in the past. Rather, it means to be confident that our destiny is in our own hands and that we have the power to transform it for the better at any moment.

In the simplest terms, karma, which means actions, indicates the universal operation of a principle of causation, similar to that upheld by modern science. Science assures us that everything in the universe exists within the framework of cause and effect. "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction," is a familiar principle. The difference between the materialistic causality of science and the Buddhist principle of karma is that the latter is not limited to those things that can be seen or measured. Rather, it includes the unseen or spiritual aspects of life, such as the sensation or experience of happiness or misery, kindness or cruelty. In an address delivered in 1993, SGI President Ikeda described these different approaches. The Buddhist concept of causal relations, he wrote:

. . . differs fundamentally from the kind of mechanistic causation which, according to modern science, holds sway over the objective natural world--a world divorced from subjective human concerns. Causation, in the Buddhist view, spans a more broadly defined nature, one that embraces human existence. To illustrate, let us assume that an accident or disaster has occurred. A mechanistic theory of causation can be used to pursue and identify how the accident occurred, but is silent regarding the question of why certain individuals should find themselves caught up in the tragic event. Indeed, the mechanistic view of nature requires the deliberate forestalling of such
existential questionings.

In contrast, the Buddhist understanding of causation seeks to directly address these poignant "whys?"

Originally, the Sanskrit word karma meant work or office, and was related to verbs that mean simply "do" or "make." According to Buddhism, we create karma on three levels: through thoughts, words and actions. Acts of course have a greater impact than mere words. Likewise, when we verbalize our ideas, this creates more karma than merely thinking them. However, since both words and deeds originate in thoughts, the contents of our hearts--our thoughts--are also of crucial importance.

Karma can be thought of as our core personality, the profound tendencies that have been impressed into the deepest levels of our lives. The deepest cycles of cause and effect extend beyond the present existence; they shape the manner in which we start this life--our particular circumstances from the moment of birth--and will continue beyond our deaths. The purpose of Buddhist practice is to transform our basic life tendency in order to realize our total human potential in this lifetime and beyond.

As one of the ancient Buddhist texts states: "If you want to understand the causes that existed in the past, look at the results as they are manifested in the present. And if you want to understand what results will be manifested in the future, look at the causes that exist in the present."

Karma is thus, like everything, in constant flux. We create our own present and future by the choices we make in each moment. Understood in this light, the teaching of karma does not encourage resignation, but empowers us to become the protagonists in the unfolding drama of our lives.

LANSONES..!!

Super addicted na talaga ako sa prutas na ito.. Everyday na lang ata, gusto kong kumain nun.. Pag nagcocommute me (as if naman hindi lage), pag may nadadaan me fruit stand, i'd really buy lansones.. Sarap..!! Minsan, when I'm with my buddhist friends, we'd buy 1 kilo (split into two) tapos we'd eat it habang naglalakad papunta sa aming destination.. At maghahanap talaga kami ng place kung san we could sit and finish it all up..! Mahal na nga lansones ngayon eh.. Dati P25 per 1/2 kilo, ngayon P35 na.. Kahit na ganun, no choice but to buy..

Alamat ng Lansones

(diba dapat pag alamat ibig sabihin kung ssan nagsimula? eh sa kwento, meron na talagang bunga na lansones.. ang alamat dito kung paano naging edible 'to! hay.. nothing beats Alamat ng Pinya!!)

Tumunog ang kampana sa munting Kapilya ng isang nayon sa bayan ng Paete, lalawigan ng Laguna. Napabalikwas si Manuel at masuyong ginising ang nahihimbing na kabiyak. "Gising na Edna, at tayo'y mahuhuli sa misa." Marahang nagmulat ng mga mata ang babae, kumurap-kurap at nang mabalingan ng tingin ang asawa ay napangiti.

Mabilis na gumayak ang mag-asawa upang magsimba sa misang minsan sa isang buwan idinaraos sa kanilang nayon ng kura paroko ng bayan. Hindi nagtagal at ang mag-asawa ay kasama na sa pulutong ng mga taga-nayong patungo sa Kapilya. Magkatabing lumuhod sa isang sulok ang magkabiyak at taimtim na nananalangin. "Diyos ko," and marahang panalangin ni Edna, "Patnubayan mo po kami sa aming pamumuhay, nawa'y huwag magbago ang pagmamahal sa akin ni Manuel." Si Manuel naman ay taimtim ding dumadalangin sa kaligtasan ng asawa, na alam niyang nagtataglay sa sinapupunan ng unang binhi ng kanilang pag-iibigan.

Nang matapos ang misa ay magiliw na inakay ni Manuel ang kabiyak at sila'y lumakad na pauwi sa kanilang tahanan. Sa kanilang marahang paglalakad ay biglang napahinto si Edna.

"Naku! kay gandang mga bunga niyon," ang wika kay Manuel sabay turo sa puno ng lansones na hitik na hitik sa bunga. "Gusto ko niyon, ikuha mo ako," ani Ednang halos tumulo ang laway sa pananabik. Napakurap-kurap si Manuel. Hindi niya malaman ang gagawin. Alam niyang ang lansones ay lason at hindi maaring kainin ngunit batid din naman niyang nagdadalang-tao ang asawa at hindi dapat biguin sa pagkaing hinihiling. Sa pagkakatigagal ng lalaki ay marahan siyang kinalabit ni Edna at muling sumamong ikuha siya ng mga bunga ng lansones.

"Iyan ay lason kaya't hindi ko maibibigay sa iyo." Pagkarinig ni Edna sa wika ng asawa ay pumatak ang luha. Sunod-sunod na hikbi ang pumulas sa kanyang mga labi. Parang ginugutay ang dibdib ni Manuel sa malaking habag sa asawa ngunit tinigasan niya ang kanyang loob.

Masuyong inakbayan ni Manuel ang asawa at marahang nangusap. "Huwag na iyan ang hilingin mo, alam mo namang iya'y lason. Hayaan mo at pagdating natin sa bahay ay pipitas ako sa duluhan ng mga manggang manibalang."

Walang imikan nilang tinalunton ang landas patungo sa kanilang tahanan. Ang maaliwalas na langit ng kanilang pag-iibigan ay biglang sinaputan ng ulap. Ni hindi sinulyapan ni Edna ang mga manggang manibalang na pitas ni Manuel sa kanilang duluhan. Ang babae'y laging nagkukulong sa silid, ayaw tumikim man lamang ng pagkain at ayaw tapunan ng tingin ang pinagtatampuhang asawa.

Hindi nagtagal ang babae'y naratay sa banig ng karamdaman. Hindi malaman ni Manuel ang gagawin sa kalunoslunos na kalagayan ng asawa."Edna, ano ba ang dinaramdam mo?" lipos na pag-aalalang wika ni Manuel habang buong pagsuyong hinahaplos ang noo ng maysakit.

Marahang iling lamang ang itinugon ng nakaratay at dalawang butil ng luha ang nag-uunahang gumulong sa pisngi. Balisang nagpalakad-lakad si Manuel sa tabi ng maysakit. Hindi niya matagalang tignan ang payat na kaanyuan ngayon na kaibang-kakaiba sa dating Ednang sinuyo niya't minahal. Wala na ngayon ang namumurok na pisngi, ang dating mapupungay na mga mata'y malalamlam, wala na ang ningning ng kaligayahan, maputla ang dati'y mapupulang mga labi at mistulang larawan ng kamatayan.

Noong hindi na niya makaya ang damdaming lumulukob sa kanyang pagkatao ay mabilis siyang nagpasiya. Kukunin niya ang mga bunga ng lansones. Ang bunga ng kamatayang pinakamimithi ng kanyang asawa. Sa wakas ay isinuko rin niya ang katigasan ng kanyang loob, dahil sa matinding habag sa kabiyak.

Nanaog siya at tinungo ang puno ng lansones. Nanginginig ang kamay na pinitas ang isang kumpol ng bunga ng kamatayan.

"Diyos ko, tulungan mo po kami, pinakamamahal ko ang aking asawa at wala ng halaga sa akin ang buhay kung siya'y mawawala pa sa aking piling," nangangatagal ang mga labing marahan niyang naiusal kasabay ng mariing pagpikit ng mga mata. Sunod-sunod na patak ng luha ang nalaglag sa pagkagunitang ang bungang iyon ang tatapos sa lahat ng kanilang kaligayahan.

Sa pagmumulat niya ng paningin siya'y nabigla. Anong laking himala! May nabuong liwanag sa kanyang harapan at gayon na lamang ang kanyang panggigilalas noong iyon ay maging isang napakagandang babaing binusilak sa kaputian. Humalimuyak ang bangong sa tanang buhay niya ay noon lamang niyang masamyo. Sa tinig na waring isang anghel ay marahang nangungusap ang babae. "Anak ko, kainin mo ang bungang iyong hawak."

Nagbantulot sumunod si Manuel sapagkat alam niyang ang bungang iyon ay lason. Sa nakitang pagaalinlangan ni Manuel ay muling nangusap ang babaeng nakaputi. "Huwag kang matakot, kainin mo ang bungang iyong hawak." Pagkasabi noo'y kumuha ng isang bunga sa hawak na kumpol ni Manuel at ito'y marahang pinisil.

Mawala ang takot ni Manuel at mabilis na tinalupan ang isang bunga ng lansones. Anong sarap at anong tamis! Nang ibaling niya ang paningin sa babaeng nakaputi ay nawala na ito. Biglang naglaho at saan man niya igala ang kanyang mata ay hindi makita. "Salamat po, Diyos ko!" ang nabikas ni Manuel. Biglang sumigla ang katawan ni Manuel at hindi magkandatutong pinitas ang lahat ng mga bungang makakaya niyang dalhin at nagdudumaling umuwi sa naghihintay na asawa.
