Commuting in the Philippines

Ever since I was allowed to go out (on my own or with friends, relatives or yaya), ako ay best in commute.  Hanggang ngayon, commute pa rin ako.  YES, hindi ako marunong mag-drive.

Masyadong mainit na usapin ngayon and transportation system sa Pilipinas (most especially ang MRT).  Dahil sa sabay-sabay na road constructions (EWAN KO BA KASI BAKIT PINAGSABAY-SABAY E!!!!!!!), most of us are forced to take the public transport para iwas traffic.

This is at the North EDSA Station of the MRT.  Kita mo na super over-flow na ng tao ang station na ito.  At this station, dito sumasakay yung mga taga Northern Part ng Manila, isama mo na mga taga-Bulacan.  Ang lala diba? Everyday yan ah..

Seeing this picture, alam mong hindi masaya ang commuting life ng mga Pinoy.  Every day, majority of the commuters have no choice but endure this. :(


If I will go to Trinoma (South to North!!!), given na ako ay mag-ko-commute (hindi kasama taxi) from our house ganito ang list ng mga sasakyan ko.

From the house, I'll ride a tricycle.  Pagkarating mga main road, pwede ako either mag-Jeep/Bus/FX hanggang Baclaran. Then from Baclaran pwede ako either derecho na ng Bus to North or jeep muna to MRT then sakay MRT to Trinoma.  Since madaming stop over ang Bus and mas matagagalan ako, MRT is the best policy talaga.

Madami na rin ako naranasan sa pag-ko-commute.  Ilang beses na ako nawalan ng cellphone sa bus.  Naka-witness pa ako ng malalalang shoot out sa EDSA at wala kaming nagawa kundi manatili lang sa loob ng bus na walang driver! Ilang beses na rin ako nakipag-away sa MRT pag may mga pasaway na tao.  Ang dami ko na ring tsismis na narinig habang nakasakay sa jeep pauwi.  At ang dami kong nakakatawang moment sa FX na hanggang ngayon natatawa pa rin ako pag naaalala ko.

Dahil sa pagko-commute, madami na rin akong lugar na alam puntahan.  Ako na nga rin ang tanungan ng mga kaibigan kung paano ba pumunta sa ganito etc.  I'm now a walking Google Map! Hahaha.  Dahil din sa pagko-commute, naging independent ako.  Maiintindihan mo ang buhay ng Pinoy sa pag-ko-commute.  Sa dami ng iba't ibang klaseng Pinoy (at hindi Pinoy) na nakakasabay, nakakahalubilo mo araw-araw, more or less pwede naiintindihan mo na rin ng takbo ng buhay.

Here We Go Again..

YES.  Nawalan (nanakawan) na naman ako ng cellphones.

Nakailang beses na ba ako nawalan?  Hindi ko na rin mabilang.  Nag-iiba lang naman ako ng cellphones pag luma na or pag sira na or yun nga, pag nawawalan/nanakawan.  My cellphones are either hand me downs (from Papa usually) or newly bought.

Let’s walk down memory lane..

My family’s first cellphone was this – THE FATHER OF ALL CELLPHONES!  Ang bigat!!! Hassle dalhin.  Kaya naaalala ko, hindi ito nilalagay sa bag.  Parang nasa kotse lang or naka-tayo sa mesa.  For tawag lang talaga ang cellphone dati.  Isipin mo nalang kung hindi nag-evolve ang cellphones noh? ANG HASSLE!  Super bigat siguro ng bag mo!  Or mangangalay ka kasi ang bigat ng hawak mo! Hahaha.  Ang pinakagusto ko pala sa cellphone na to yung sound ng keypad! Nakakatuwa!

Tapos nag BOSCH kami.  Eto yung may text na.  P150/month pa dati ang bayad sa Globe before.  Madami kami nag-shshare sa phone na ito.  Kaya kailangan pangalanan mo talaga yung ka-text mo para pag nakita yung name, alam nila kung para kanino yung text.  Sa pagkakaalala ko, isa o dalawa lang ka-text ko dati.  At kung sino siya/sila, SECRET. Hahaha!

ALCATEL.  Eto ang masasabi kong cellphone KO na talaga.  I saw the ad on the newspaper at natuwa naman ako kasi ang daming colors na pagpipilian.  Nag-away pa kami ni mudang dati dahil dito kasi sabi niya, “Pambabae naman tong cellphone na ito e!”  Ako naman, “May nabasa ka ba dito sa diyaryo na pambabae lang tong cellphone na ito?” Hahaha.  Ang cute diba?  One/two liner lang ata ito.

Then came, NOKIA phones.  NAPAKADAMI ko ng Nokia phones na nagamit.  Eto mga cellphones sa pictures, ang more or less na nagamit kong phone.  Hindi ko na talaga maalala yung iba.  Yung iba dyan, nawala dahil na-holdup ako sa school!  Ang saya lang ng Nokia dati.  Ang dali mag-text!  Well, yun lang naman talaga ang importante dati e.  Masaya na ako sa mga quotes, pictures messages.  Tapos nagkaroon na nung may camera, internet etc.

BLACKBERRY!!  I’m a certified BlackBerry addict!  Ang saya gamitin.  Ang sarap ipantext.  Pero ang pinaka-gusto ko talaga dito is yung BBM.  Feeling ko dati na pag naka-BlackBerry ka, chosen ones kayo.  Ilan lang din may BB dati kaya ilan lang kami naka-BBM.  Dalawang BlackBerry phones (Z10 and Q10) ko ang nanakaw. Hehe.  Miss ko na tuloy yung ease ng pag-twitweet and most especially yung pag-eemail.

Apple na lang ang hindi ko pa nagagamit (deadma na kasi ako sa ibang brands kasi di ko bet ang Android).  Meron akong iTouch kasi kasama din yun sa nawala.  Will my next phone be an Apple na?  Hmmm. Let’s see.


But for now, my every reliable Nokia phones will do.

It's that time of the year.. Prom pictures everywhere on my Facebook timeline! But as you recall your Prom days, ask yourselves, "Bakit nga ba kami nag-Prom?"

Mas naaalala ko yung Prom namin noong 4th year na ako kaysa noong 3rd Year. Noong 3rd year kami, ang pagkakatanda ako, sa school lang ito naganap! Pero noong 4th year na, we held it sa isang hotel  sa Malate (wala na siya ngayon).  Nag-Cotillion (siyempre) at ako lang naman ang napiling "Best in Dance". Ako pa ba?! Hahaha. Anyway, kumanta rin kami (4 ata kami) ng "Thank God I Found You" nil Mariah, Joe and 98 Degrees. Since hindi about ng classmate kong girl yung highnotes ni Mariah, ako ang kumanta noong part na yun! Paulit-ulit din akong sumayaw sa kantang "Waiting for Tonight" ni J.Lo!

MY POV on the issue:

Lahat ng mga beks, noong mga bata at hanggang ngayon ay nangangarap maging beauty queen.  Nung bata pa ako, lagi akong naglalaro ng kumot o kahit anong tela at gagawin kong gown.  Ako lagi si Ms. Venezuela.  Ngayon, dumating na ang pagkakataon na pwede ng sumali ang mga transgered sa Miss Universe. Matutupad na rin ang mga minimiting pangarap ng mga beks!!!

CHE!! Kahit nung bata ako, eto man ay pangarap ko, alam ko naman kung san ko ilalagay ang sarili ko..

Sorry sa mga ka-beks ko, pero tutol talaga ako dito.  Sa tagal tagal ng panahon ng Miss Universe, biglang may ganitong eksena?  Kulang na ba ratings nila at kailangan ng kontrobersya?  Or gusto namang tumikim ng bagong putahe ni Mr. Trump? NKKLK.

Eto namang si Jenna, ambisyosa ka teh! Hindi ka pa nakuntento sa p*ke mo, gusto mo pa maging Miss Universe.

RESPETO at DELICADEZA naman kahit papaano.  Alam naman natin na kahit balibaligtarin ang mundo, kahit 10 p*ke pa magkaroon nyan, wala ka pa ring matris, at wala ka na ring Ella Mae Sison na nararamdaman dyan sa hiyas mong matuturing at alam mo sa sarili mong bakla ka pa rin.

Sasabihin discrimination ito! Gaga! Para lang itong isang wedding. Pupunta kahit alam mong wala ka sa guest list, tapos magagalit ka pag hindi ka pinapasok.

Makuha na tayong makuntento.  Inagaw na nga natin ang mga lalake sa kanila, pati ba naman pageant nila, gusto pa nating agawin.  Matutong ilagay ang sarili sa dapat kalagyan.

Pero alam niyo ba talaga kung bakit pumayag si Donald Trump na mareinstate si Jenna.  May naalala kasi siya.  May ka-pez si Jenna sa pamilyang Trump..

I'm FAT


Sad to say, that's me. Ang taba ko na! Mataba na nga ako, nagsuot pa ako ng horizontal stripes na damit. Hahaha. Dati when people ask me kung bakit ako tumataba, I always answer them, "It's a sign of wealth." Well, totoo naman, pero natatabaan na ako sa sarili ko.

This is my 190th post, and yes, my official weigh in minutes before I wrote this post is 190! Kill me now!!!!

Nagbalik na naman ang alala ng aking High School days dahil sa Miss Universe 2010. Hindi dahil mahilig ako maglaro ng beauty contest sa amin at ako lagi ang Venezuela, kundi dahil sa isang lalaking nakalimutan kong naging parte ng buhay ko.

Siya ay si William Baldwin.

Bata pa siya dito (dahil ito yung face niyang crush ko siya at

hindi yung ngayong matanda na siya).

Siya ay isa sa mga judge ng Miss Universe 2010 at siya pa ang nagtanong kay Ma. Venus Raj na ikinaloka ng marami (ang sagot, ndi dahil kay William).

Una ko siyang nasilayan sa movie na Backdraft. Siya ay isang bombero dito. Mga ilang beses ko ding pinanuod ang pelikulang ito ng paulit-ulit. Bakit kamo? Click here.

Sumunod ay sa Fair Game, kung saan kasama niya si Cindy Crawford. Sobrang gwapo niya dito. Meron din silang steamy na scene sa loob ng train (ata?).

Sa pelikulang ito huli ko siyang nakita. Dito na kami naghiwalay. Iniwan niya akong nag-iisa, pagtapos niya akong gamitin ng paulit-ulit. Dito ko nalaman sa pelikulang ito na tunay pala akong babae dahil sa nararamdaman ko pag nakikita ko siya dito at lalo na dito.

Ang Miss Universe 2010

(dahil dito, napablog ako ulit!)

Nung 23 pa lang ng gabi, ako ang excited at pinilit matulog ng maaga para kinabukasan ay magising naman ako ng maaga para mapanuod ang Miss Universe 2010 sa ABS-CBN.

Nag-alarm ako ng 9:10 am, nakatulog ako ulit. Buti nagising ako ulit ng 9:35 am. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, "Shit! Shit! Shit!" Dali-dali kong binuksan ang TV and to my disappointment, ang nasa TV ay "Simply KC" pa din!

Buti naisip ko na pinapalabas rin pala ito sa Star World. So dun na ako nanuod. Ung part na sa Star World ay yung swimsuit na. KInakabahan ako kasi ang dami ng tinawag na bilat, walang Philippines. Tapos biglang ang huling babae tinawag ay, "Miss Philippines!" So nasa mood na ako. Kinakabahan ako at the same time excited.

Tapos brino-browse browse ko ulit sa Ch. 2 dahil hindi pwedeng hindi ko mapanuod ang opening ng Miss Universe at ang pagtawag kay Venus sa Top 15.

Tapos Top 10 na. Tinawag si Venus ng mas maaga. Hindi siya panghuli.

Top 5. Super kabado. Tinawag na isa isa. Ang huli ulit, "Miss Philippines!" Hindi ko batid na senyales pala ang twice na pagkaka-tawag kay Venus na last. Hmm.

Final Question. Hindi ko na masyado inentertain yung sagot ng iba. Mga snippets nalang ang napapansin kong moments. Pero nung Philippines na, I was very attentive. High School crush ko pa naman si William Baldwin, as in!!!

Dun na. Dun na ako nawala. I told myself, "4th na si Ate". :( True enough, 4th runner.

After ng pangyayaring ito, nagdagsaan na ang Tweets, FB statuses (eto rin ba ang plural ng status?), blog entries na for and against sa nangyari.

MY THOUGHTS KAY VENUS: Teh, un na teh eh. Nandun ka na, sinayang mo. To think sayo ang pinakamadaling sagutin ang Final Question. May mga cliche-ic answers na nga sa tanong na yun eh. Hindi kasi "thank you to etc etc" ang sagot sa tanong.. Kitang kita naman kasi 4th runner up ka teh. Masyado ka cguro natuwa sa suportters mo.. Congrats na din kasi out of the 80+ candidates, naka top 5 ka. Pero sayang. SAYANG VENUS.

Last Status ko

Iba't iba man tayo ng opinion, ngunit alam natin kung ano tama at ang mali. Dun ako naiirita. Hindi ko sinisiraan si Venus, ung sagot nya at ginawa niya ang di ko gusto. Beauty Queen ka ate, nagtraining ka sa Columbia, wala kang karapatang kakitaan ng kaba. Hindi rason yun para maligwak ka sa Q&A. Kahit nga ikaw teh, sabi sa Twitter, " RT @KCMontero: Venus Raj is laughing off her Q and A blunder. That's my type off girl, someone who can laugh at their mistakes. That's why I laugh a lot." See, natawa ka din sa ginawa mo. Remember iba ang natawa sa natuwa.

ITIGIL NA KA-IPOKRITAHAN!

Parang simpleng case ito ng isang batang nadapa at nagkagalos. Sasabihin ng Nanay, "Wala yan anak, hindi yan masakit. Malayo sa bituka yan." Eh kitang kita mo namang umiiyak / humahagulgol ung bata! So, masakit sya! Parang dito lang, huwag nyong sabihing "OK LANG" dahil alam nating hindi "OK LANG". Sayang ang nangyari. SAYANG. SAYANG talaga.

at least we know, democracy is still alive kasi iba-iba tayo ng pananawa at nakakapag-voice out tayo ng sentiments natin.. :)
